Youths Unite to Not light up by TJC!

Our project, the ‘Youths Unite Not to Light Up’ Project aimed to convey that life could be better if one did not smoke and to implement this from a fresh perspective, such as the concept of opportunity cost. This concept ties in with Health Promotion Board’s ‘Live it up without lighting up’ campaign.

Based on this, various anti-smoking activities were implemented, such as a Facebook ‘Opportunity Cost’ Smoke-Free Competition, (click here to view) a student flashmob during the ‘Youth Shine Festival’ held by National Youth Council on 2nd July 2011 and various anti-smoking messages integrated into selected activities organized by the Student Council, such as Graduation Night on 8th Dec 2011.

Mental Wellness @ Republic Polytechnic!

Mental Wellness @ Republic Polytechnic was an event held from 5th and 6th of November and targeted to provide different sources of stress relief for RP students. YAH@RP IG planned three different activities for all to play!

“Stress” it out!

Stressed?

We would never have thought of handling such a big project about health related topics in a community service event. The challenge was to plan activities with health related topics for low income residents. We had experience conducting games but going through the process of proposal writing, budgeting and indicating constructive plans for the activities were something new to us.

Freshmen Overseas Orientation Trip 2011 (18th to 23rd July 2011)

NTU Outdoor Adventure Club (ODAC) welcomed their new batch of freshmen, or affectionately known as FOOTies (participants of FOOT) last week. Following our motto, to ‘explore, discover, and experience’, our Freshmen Overseas Orientation Trip (F.O.O.T) committee had been meticulously planning for an awesome ODAC experience, and the opportunity had finally arrived for the 14 of us to showcase our fruit of labour.

Who Survived A Fitness Challenge? ME!

We are a group of 5 River Valley High School students who recently conducted a health-related activity for Lakeside Primary School students. It is called ‘I Survived A Fitness Challenge’.

‘I Survived A Fitness Challenge’ is a one-day afternoon amazing race (non-competitive) event, which promotes healthy eating and proper exercising to overweight children.It comprises 5 stations, each with a specific theme (e.g. warm-up is essential before commencement of any sporting activity), which the students could learn from.
